FINANCIAL MARKETS TODAY – 16 September 2026

System Liquidity Liquidity jumped 6.36% to ₦5.89trn from ₦5.54trn, with the OPR steady at 22.00% and the overnight rate easing to 22.19%; direction this week hinges on the size of the next OMO offer.

Treasury Bills Secondary market rates eased slightly, 91-day to 18.42%, 180-day to 18.88%, 365-day to 19.70%, with the 1-year bill likely to stay the focal point on strong primary demand.

FGN Bonds Yields moved higher across most of the curve, 3-year to 16.65%, 5-year to 16.71%, 7-year to 16.83%, while the 10-year and 20-year held flat at 16.75% and 14.75%.

Foreign Exchange The naira was broadly steady, firming 0.05% to ₦1,329.86/$ at NAFEM while the parallel rate held at ₦1,385.00/$, narrowing the gap to about ₦55.

Nigerian Equities The All-Share Index gained 0.20% to 244,791.80 points, led by Insurance (+1.56%) and Consumer Goods (+0.81%), with Oil & Gas (-0.04%) the only sector down.

Eurobonds A reversal from profit-taking pulled yields down across the curve to an average 7.11%, with the 3-year at 6.04% and the 20-year at 8.19%.

Commodities Gold gained 1.29% to $4,389.09/oz, while Brent crude fell 2.47% to $105.83/bbl.
